KTE is actively involved in the building and maintenance of Phidim-Ranitar / Lungrupa (8 km) motor able road and (7 km) trek road. It is involved in bridge building activities at the Namdu River . The premium received from Transfair International Germany and a donation coordinated by Dr. Martin Kunz (transfair) was used for this purpose. Thirteen living quarters have already been built for the farmers of the garden. A food subsidy program is provided to the staff and farmers. Medical facilities are provided for the farmers of the garden and factory. Special economic support is provided to the women farmers during the maternity period. Financial support is also provided for ritual functions - birth and death of farmer's family and for other local functions which have immense social significance.
To generate extra income for the needy family and to maintain soil fertility, KTE has initiated a COW BANK PROJECT. In the first phase, KTE provided 36 high yielding cows and a bull. The program was rewarding to the farmers as they receive extra income by selling milk and the garden receive the FYM to maintain sustainable soil fertility.
Farmers are encouraged to plant spices and medicinal herbs in their field for extra income to the families. The garden will make necessary long term planning for the overall development of the community as it starts generating profits. |
